I have a leaking AC hose; the one that comes out of the side of the compressor and runs forward then up to the top of the grill. Does anyone know of a good source for replacement hoses?

You could try the dealership?

Is the leak at the fitting or in the hose itself? You can get an o-ring kit for $10 which comes with all new o-rings for the whole system.

I'm considering pulling my A/C system out of my truck. If you don't find what you're looking for shoot me a PM.

Where the right angle metal piece which comes off the upper right side of the AC compressor and turns into the rubber hose there is a metal cap on the hose. At the point of the insertion of the metal tube into the metal cap there is a lot of greasy residue. The guy who I saw to check my AC coolant level said it is from a leak and the accumulation of oil from the AC; therefore, he recommended I replace the hose before filling the system with coolant. I do not believe there is an O-ring in the location of the leak; however, since I will have the system open maybe I should replace all the O-rings?
I am sure my dealer would have a hose, but I was hoping to find a less expensive aftermarket hose. I have found aftermarket hoses for '90 and later 4Runners, but not 1st generation 4Runners.

What price sayeth the dealer? ToyotaPartsZone (which I believe is actually a dealer somewhere) wants about $90. http://www.toyotapartszone.com/Page_...reName=MEE139G (use your VIN to get the production date correct).

I had called them. They indicated the only hose still produced was for the '88 4 Runners with carburetors not fuel injected models. I'm off to a hydraulic hose shop to see if they can make one for me. I'll post the result.

carb and or fuel injection as long as it's the same AC system in either vehicle wouldn't it be the same hose, I bet it's the same compressor and system, order the new hose at dealer, take old one in and compare and see, I would rather have OEM hoses than aftermarket anyday on AC...That's what I would do...
