Rear window blues...

It was a nice sunny day out the other day so I thought oh great day to open up the whole yota on my drive and roll the back window down. WRONG

When i rolled it down it started sloping like sideways like it was off the track, I was able to tug on it when putting it up to get it to where its straight and 2 inches from the top, so it's not completely shut. I cant get it to move any further. I would like to open up the tailgate and look inside there but i cant even put it down obviously because the window cant go all the way down. I searched and didnt really find what I'm looking for. Is there any decent way to tackle getting inside the tailgate while keeping in mind i cannot open it. Cause i think if i get in there i can fix whatever is the problem. I just got my MAF replaced at the shop and that put me back 250 bucks and this happens 2 days later so I kind of need to do this job on my own.

Hey, you had one of the same problems as me, only mind went down at an angle, and then wouldn't go down OR up.

I imagine that you can take the panel off the inside of the tail gate with a screw driver. It is hard to work on it when it is up, because you are basically wrenching your neck all over the place, but you can do it.

Is it not going up or down, or do you think it is just off the track? The track part isn't all that hard, but it can be. Just be careful not to drop the glass on your fingers.

That happened to me as well when the tracks rusted through. if you can get the window down far enough to get your gate down they aren't too bad to change. I have almost no mechanical skill and i managed to do it with relatively few problems, you just have to have some patience and be careful with it. I think the tracks were about 35$ canadian for both of them. good luck

either the track has rusted through (its rusty on mine) (replace the rubber gasket at the top to keep water out of the gate cost me like $15) or you busted the ears off the sisor mechnism that rides in the tracks.

either way you have to pull the pannel off like they said.

If the gait is down you can close the latches with a screwdriver and make the gate think its closed so you can try to run the motor up and down to help you sort things out while your looking at the guts.
