Orange Tail Light Syndrome
While driving last night in my '88 4runner, I noticed my tail lights are practically orange. I have noticed the same on the other three 1st gen 4runners I see driving in my city, but that was before I bought my '88. I mean, some places, some people, might not care, but in Alaska, I'm worried someone won't see my tail lights in the ice fog that plagues the city in the winter and rear-end me.
What do you 1st gen 4runner and (perhaps) 2nd gen truck owners do about it? if anything....
Thanks

I didn't think of the colored bulbs **stupid me ** Where could I get those? Just an auto-parts store? (Schucks, Napa, etc) Would they fit into the housing without any modifications?

Most auto parts stores carry them. For the brake/running light bulb, typically an 1157 type bulb and they plug right in. I run the colored bulbs or LEDs in all the lights on my '85, handy if you accidentally break a lens while off road, at least you still have the proper colored light when you drive back home.

This is what I did, while it's more of a cosmetic fix, I didn't notice any change in light intensity -- you might also be able to something similar, but in red, if you can find "stained glass" spray paint (crafts store?) - NOT red plastic paint, which is not translucent

your cheapest solution is coloured bulbs. Sylvania makes bulbs that are blue when dormant, red or orange when in use. or you could get the stealth bulbs.
