In SoCal, the long bed is all that rare. My red 91 BEAST was a long box, standard cab dlx. But they do have the big tank, 19.5 gallons......

Forget what it looks like, Just drive it and save some damn cash. Longbed schlong bed. Shortbeds wheel better. Go to a junk yard and grab the body parts for nothin. As for a longbed,..... you may just go with what dlbrunner said and build a flat bed, or you may be searchin for a while.

get crazy and keep the long wheel base, and alter the bed--move the wheel wells to the very back. then build the exo-cage.
