Looks like I need to figure out why I have no oil pressure once the truck warms up. I have 75 psi cold, she does have 170,000 miles on her. I think the oil pump or main bearing have an issue.

• No oil in the water
• NO water in the oil
• Changed the oil and filter still have the same issue.
• Hooked up a mechanical gauge and it matches the gauge on the dash. Good pressure cold no pressure hot.
• No noises from the motor that sound strange.

Before I get to far into anything I am going to do a compression check to see if anything is strange there and see if the oil pump or mains are worth replacing.

So how bad is that oil pan to get off, the manual says I have to remove the front differential. That should be fun.

Anyone here live near Rochester MN and taken the oil pan off and replace the oil pump?

Use the search feature; there are a few threads about removing the oil pan. It's not too bad.

The oil pump is a little tough to get to since you have to remove the timing belt. If you've done that before you know what it entails. Needs some special tools or creativity to pull the cam pulleys, most notably. May as well replace the t-belt while you're at it along with idlers and water pump if you haven't done so yet.

Should be doable in a weekend, or a day if you're quick.

I have rebuilt a few older V8 Ford and Chevy motors never a Toyota. Imagine my surprise when I saw the oil pump on front of the motor and I had to pull the differential.

Before I start the oil pump bearing work I am going to check the cylinder compression to make sure it is even across all cylinders. What is a good average number for compression? Is there anything in the manual that people have found?

Yep, 180psi across the board would be sweet, but the most important thing, is that all cyl are not too far apart, I think any more than 17psi variation should indicate a problem.
I have seen a couple 3vzes run decent with only 120psi +/- 3, across the board.
