o2 sensor replacement,scan tool

Well my 92 p/u has 240,000 on it and I have been wondering if replacing the o2 will help performance its original and its alot of mileage I get 14 15 mpg maybe thats bad or ???also is there a scan tool available for this thing.It runs well and you know the old saying if it aint broke dont fix it,i did fab up a cat test pipe and did notice better acceleration.

Yes, replacing the o2 sensor can help regain mpg and minor performance gains. What engine do you have? I would reccomend a tune up aswell.

Replacment plugs (direct OEM) can be had a www.sparkplugs.com among many other oem parts for cheap.


AS for a scan tool, toyota made this easy. All you need, the only "tool" you have to have to check the codes, is a paper clip.

Open your hood, look for the little grey box marked "diagnostic" open that up, find the te1 and e1 termanels, use the paper clip to jump them.

Get into the truck, turn the key to run, and count the blinks of the check engine light.
Write them down, come online and look up the codes.

yeah replacing your o2 sensor might help you mpgs

for checking trouble codes all you need is a paper clip, or any small wire. http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...CheckConnector there is a detailed way of doing it and links to what the codes mean.

don't quote me here, but i think you can ohm the o2 sensor and see if it is bad
