o2 sensor on 1987 22r
Total noob question but,
Where is my o2 sensor. I have a 1987 4x4 with a 22r and I cannot for the life of me find it. My header i ordered has the hole for it. I looked up one side of my exsaust and down the other side and to no avail It's not there. Where does it plug into? where does the wire feed into. could they bypass it somehow? and if I don't have one, what can I do to this header to make it work. it's a doug thorley 550-y-c. it's the one that is suggested according to their website for my truck. I really don't want to go through the hassle of sending this one back since they don't have anymore instock and could be months before they get one. HELP

My 87 22r doesn't have one. and you could get a block off plate made, or make one yourself (depending on your tools and things) but there is no need to send it back, you can.just use that header for other models with o2 sensors. my 91 22re doesn't even have one on the header, just down under the cab

As far as I'm aware, the o2 sensor is only for the California trucks as the oxygen sensor controls the carburetor feedback system (EBCV & EACV).
When I replaced my exhaust manifold with one from Autozone, there was a block-off plate already installed. So, like was said, you'll probably have to get a block-off plate.

Incorrect. Federal vehicles (49 state) do not have oxygen sensors, because they do not have a feedback carburetor. California carburetors do, for the reason I stated above.
All 22R trucks (up to the 1988 model) Federal & California have an emissions computer. It says so in the FSM. I can't say regarding the 1989+ carbureted 22R, but I would suspect it as well.

Any '87 22r should have an O2 sensor. Whether or not you physically have one is another question. It should be located on the exhaust manifod either in the upper section, or possibly the lower downpipe.
@ coastal_runner: my 1982 Dodge Rampage had an O2 sensor and it was carbureted. My 1979 Mustang Turbo was carbureted and had an O2 sensor. Need I say more?
