No clock memory nor dome light

No clock memory nor dome light
I have a 93' delux extra cab. It came factory with a single mid cab dome light and also a clock in the dash. When my ignition is on my clock works like it should and so does my dome light, but when I turn my ignition off I lose all interior power (light, clock, door buzzer) I know the clock is not suppose to stay on but it loses memory. It has a aftermarket head unit, but I do not believe the PO ran a constant power wire for the memory in it, I know I had to run one in my 94' reg cab, but the head unit also loses memory. I am new to yotatech but all help with this electrical issue is greatly appreciated. I tried searching but had little luck, if there is already a thread about this, somebody steer me in the right direction.

Sounds to me like someone hacked into the stereo wiring and other things and messed it all up, not seeing the wiring myself sounds like you need to dig in with a tester and figure it out. We can only do so much and when you are talking about factory wiring being changed not much we can determine not knowing what was done wrong....

I started checking fuses, the fuse under the hood that reads dome was blown. I replaced the fuse, my buzzer started working, but no dome light, my clock and radio came on with the key off. I checked the light with a test light and did not have any power in either position. I am believing that my problem is going to be around the radio wiring harness.

Sounds like someone swapped the wires for the clock memory (being a hot wire I think?) with the stereo stuff. Best to find a wiring diagram for these sorts of things and just check 'em all one by one.

Most wiring issues I see is where a stereo or trailer lights is added. I would suggest getting the correct plugs from the bone yard and wire them back to what the factory had it. There are plenty of stereo adapters that will connect from the factory harness to an aftermarket stereo. Plug and Play and solves a lot of issues.

The "constant power" for the clock comes from the cigarette lighter (uh, universal power port?), and is green-red.
Lots of hack stereo installs look for the constant power from the cigarette lighter or the dome light. As much as I'm sure you'd hate to do it, you might have to start by carefully removing ALL of the hack wiring.

I appreciate the help guys, the truck is in the body shop right now, but once I get it back I'm going to pull the radio out and see what kind of mess the PO made when they wired it. I my brother has a 94 sr5 so I will be able to look at his for a reference. I still have the plug and radio I had in my 94' a few years ago. Has anyone ever added the lights from an sr5 that is on the mirror? I know where an sr5 parts truck is.

I finally took the time to fix my problem, I pulled the radio out, and unhooked the aftermarket wiring harness where it connects to the factory one, replaced the dome fuse and all went to working as it should. I found the PO mistake in wiring (two wires spliced together that should not have been), hooked the radio back up and everything is like it should be now!
