Bought this from Allied Exhaust Systems here in Denver
They didn't want to sell it to me first because they said they were wholesale and the muffler shops didn't like when allied sold an exhaust to a customer and asked them to put it on. Mainly because alot of muffler shops would use the list price and make the extra 100-200 dollars.
The guy who helped me was cool about it though.

It sounds good until it gets up really high - then it does sound a little bit ricer'ish.
But most exhausts I've had and heard sound like that when the RPM's go up that high.
I may think about going with that one for my '85 - not sure yet.
I gotta do something, there's a leak so when I left off the gas it's got that puttering sound - annoying.
Looks and sounds good though!

i know no ones posted on this thread in a while but i just bought an 86 22r pickup and it has no cat at all. i was planning on going with 2 1/4 straight piped from the header back with a cherry bomb glasspack. camo did you end up going with 2 1/2? think i'd be better off with 2 1/2? i figured i'd loose way too much back pressure with that big...

2.5" is alot of pipe for a 22re... Hope it works out for you!
No bother going over 2.25" Smaller pipes will keep the exhaust hot and flowing faster. Won't sound as ricey either..

nope. you need backpressure. if you don't have backpressure, the exhaust pulses are moving too quickly to effectively scavenge a cylinder. also, without some backpressure, the pressure in the pipes would be negative, regardless of exhaust velocity, which in turn would slow down the exhaust. you want some pressure in there but not enough to restrict flow.
Most of the scavenging effect is caused by accoustical waves and without backpressure (or in low pressure environments) the accoustical waves travel too fast to accomplish efficient scavenging hence the need for specifically sized pipes, junctions and such.

Its been said a hundred times, you dont need backpressure, you need scavenging, but without backpressure there is no scavenging, you cant have one without the other!

You don't like my 2 1/2 inch pipe sound?
I had a full system with a flowmaster 60 series on mine 2 1/4 and since replacing it I have had no power loss.

ok..so..in my quest to find a deep sounding exhaust..but keep good flow with my header and cam also
i want to dual a DUAL exhaust that exits IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRE (both pipes in front of the DRIVER side rear tire) probably with a couple of short 4IN tips.
but since its such a short exhaust..idk what size of pipe would be best..2.25 or smaller????
im thinking 2.25 is gonna be ok...i dont think i wanna go with 2.5..because of the fact that YES you DO need backpressure..lol
i believe i'll go with the magnaflow muffler the original poster used..but a 2.25" in and dual 2.25" outlet..

well my dual exhaust is going to dual's on the driver side in front of the rear tire..
i dont wanna have to run exhaust pipe over the drive shaft..or anywhere else..
and yes it is street legal..AFAIK at least? the mustang's and viper's run side exhaust's around here and are nothing but headers and cat's..damn they are loud as hell
so if they can run side exhaust by golly i can too!!!!!!!!!
and mines 22r abe..im not worthy to bear the 22re emblem i dont guess..LOL
ricey in high rpms is ok with me..i stay below 3500 usually anyway (unless im keepin up with traffic up mountain roads and such)..then im pinned at 4200 or so..lol
i really want that deep rumble from idle to a decent sound around 3500rpms.
