Need gearing advice

Hello, Im new here and need some help about regearing. I have searched but cant find what i need. I have a 92 v6 automatic pickup with 33x13.50 inch tires. I want to put 5.29s in it but have been told thats to low and should put 4.88s and i am now confused on the subject any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

with an auto tranny i bealive 5.29's are what you need, if you had a 5 spd it would be too steep and would suck to drive on the freeway,

should still be fine for 35"s, as you shouldnt use 5.71's their too weak for any actual offroading, if you decide later on to get 35's you should prolly look into getting dual x-fer cases......but thats a whole nother can o worms also, trail gear is fine for gears as well as other stuff, but i would try to get US gears, heard their a better brand, but better brands come with a bigger $

Factory put 4.88 gears on 31" tire option trucks w/ automatics, so 5.29 for 33s is about ideal.

BTW, 5.71 gears are not all that weak:

just what i heard on the net of course....but to my understanding it should be a lil weaker than the 5.29? cuz of less tooth contact, but they should be stronger than the stock gears, as seen in your thread...what is your buddy running? duals with 4.70?s and a 4.3? to my understanding you shouldnt REALLY need duals with the tourq of the 4.3 and 5.71's right? but with duals and 4.70's it would put out more tourq? than just the 4.3 and stock xfer? notice the question marks cuz i dont really know, just whats going on in my head....
