NEED advice on 91' 4runner!!!!
I have a 91' 4-runner 3.0 that has 148,000 miles. It is in GREAT condition, and still runs fine. Considering its a v6, it burns a lot of gas for the size, and does not have the power that I want. Are there v8 engines that will fit a 91' 4runner that can somehow be adapted or possibly any other engines? Or is there any way I can significantly increase the power for a decent price? Gas is not really an issue here, as long as the power and performance is worth it.

Many people have swapped Chevy small blocks into their rigs.
Check out Downey Off-Road for conversion stuffs:

Run a search and you will see what people have done with the 3.0 to help performance.

The easiest swap for a manual tranny would be the 3.4L 5VZE (V6)... for automatic, I heard it was easier to do the 1UZFE (V8). The first is rated at 190hp with an available supercharger. The latter is rated at like 265hp I THINK...

So I think I might swap my engine from its stock 3.0 to the 1UZFE. But, I also want to swap my automatic transmission with a stardard tranny. Am I better of just leaving it or swapping to standard? How deep of a hole in my pocket will it burn?

If you want a standard buy a new truck with one in it. For a motor swap like that going from and auto to a manual its a big chunk of change.

I dont wanna get somethin else. I cant picture myself without my 4Runner. I'll pay anything less than 10k to get her running the way I want her. I guess Ill look into it more.
