Mystery Part, please help

I took my truck out and was washing out the engine bay to get some mud off. Im guessing a tad bit of water got in. As it started humming later while I was washing out underneath my 4runner. It hums with the truck off and on, I let it run for like half an hour to see if it would stop, well it didn't. so I disconnected the battery.

The guys at autozone didn't know what it was, and with a failed internet search im lost.

Here it is in the engine bay

Yes. Electronic cruise control.

80's Toyotas thru '95 came with, if equipt, vacuum actuated cruise control. That's after market.

Really?? then what would the humming be from? because when plugged in, it constantly hums. also does it need to be plugged in?

Any idea what an aftermarket cruise control button would look like?

Thank you

Looked around and found nothing that even remotely looks like a cruise control

Also took the part out and took a hair dryer to it and put it back in and the humming stopped

Trace your wires running from that black box and see where they go. You might find the cruise control button, or at least where it is supposed to be.

Definitely.

I recently traced the wires on several of my aftermarket mods (Hella driving lights and cab switch, external reverse lights and cab switch, air horns) and labeled each with tape and a paint pen, for ease of repair, etc. As much as we mod our trucks, the wires get to be a jumbled mess without labeling.

Good luck!
