my quest to get this thing running

okay over the winter i just bought my yota, had it for about a week and put about 100 miles on it, love driving the thing couldn't get it to idle right.

was driving it home one night the heat wouldn't work, looked down at the temp gauge it said hot, apparently my truck doesn't have dummy lights, now i'm the dummy.

checked the radiator it was dry, i'm retarted i know, i go to the gas station get some coolant put it in the truck and try to start it again, maybe there is just a small leak somewhere, i turn the key, truck doesn't start and coolant pours from between the block and the transmission, is there a frost plug back there?

also, should i have to do a head gasket on the truck? it got pretty hot and wont start right now. I'm kinda of new to toyotas... just trying to get this thing back on the road after it sitting all winter. will a compression check tell me if i need a headgasket or the head is warped?

it was when i got it, it actually knocked when i got it, i changed the oil, it stopped knocking, drove it for about a mile, check the oil it was milky, but way way worse, changed the oil again, drove it for a mile, checked it, it was clean and then drove it about 5-10 more miles and checked it and it was clean and kept that up until it broke.... i havn't checked the oil yet. I'm hoping its clean.

i paied $400 for it... i've had offers of $850 for it with people knowing it has a bad motor.

body is real clean and solid.

and after i changed the oil a few times to get the water out of it, it stopped knocking it idled funny, but i think thats a vaccume leak, it ran great, never knocked in the 100 mile i drove it.

i was told it was a used motor that had 60k on it, the truck sat for 3-4 years in a garage before i bought it.

Do a compression/leakdown test to know for sure. You're definitely going to have to tear into the motor one way or the other.

Looks like you have a perfect platform for a 3.4 swap or a chevy 4.3 swap

But yeah, looks like your engine is toast.
