My 86 Manual Swap ->
#22
cool...thanks for sharing! I got a question: did the pilot bearing fit properly in the end of the crank shaft?
I noticed you didn't mention it, but I saw the bearing installed in one of your pics. I know with the auto it doesn't have the pilot bearing, so I'm assuming the ID of the crankshaft hole is deep enough to accommodate the bearing...

Hey I got a question for anyone on here. I have an 86 auto 4runner and I did a engine and transmission swap. The engine and transmission came from a 86 pickup. I also used the engine wiring harness from the truck. (the truck was a Manuel) But I still have my auto 4runner dash harness in. How do I bypass the neutral safety now? All the mechanical stuff is done.. I am just having wiring issues. The 4runner is going to be staying Manuel.
Thanks for any info you got that could help!

Look for a big white plug that would have been attached to the passenger side of the transmission. there should be two large wires coming into the plug, one is white and one is black (IIRC). Cut those two wires from the plug and splice them together. This will be your truck thinking it is always in neutral.

my truck is a manual, however I just purchased a used 22r engine, that had an auto tranny, so I was just concerned with the pilot bearing

btw I will have lots of used parts for sale, once I do the swap. I have two 22r engines at the moment...the one I ordered and received today and will be installing and the original 22r that came in the truck...
