I don't think it is worth the effort to try and rig the hybrid system into an old truck. Too many electronics and batteries that can go wrong if something happens...like what was said before regarding water crossings. I have seen on tv, how to convert a vehicle to straight up electric. Has great potential since it has so much torque. Only downfall is battery technology...you'd have to fill the whole bed with batteries if you wanna go more than like 30 miles on a charge. If you are trying to "go green", I'd say slap a VW turbo diesel or a 4bt Cummins turbo diesel in there and run it off veggie oil or biodiesel. Then you'd have MAJOR torque, get like 30+MPG, and have lots more range out of the tank. Combo that setup with a fat-ass intercooler and some propane injection....whoa....I think I've gotta change my pants...

first of all if you just put the prius engine in your truck it will go nowhere because its out of the echo/ yaris. and the point in hybrids is not gas mileage it is reduced emissions, now however the highlander hybrid does run really good as someone posted earlier. now that setup would be cool in an old truck.
