Idles great - runs rough under load...

Hello all,

Finally got the injectors back in and everything back together on the '95 #VZE.. Started right up, idles great.

Took out for a test drive and while under acceleration it runs rough. When I run it up to around 65-70 on interstate it really started feeling a solid miss. Espicially while pulling a hill.

When I brought it back home and was looking over the motor, it idled smooth but as soon as my son stepped on the brake, I am hearing a hissing sound like a vacuum leak from under the plenum, iboard of the EGR. When he lets off the brake pedel the hiss stops.

Anyone know which vacuum lines may be affected b the brake vacuum booster? I can't see that I forgot to hook up any lines.

Appreciate ANY ideas or suggestions.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

...There is a vaccuum line that goes to the brake booster, so that should be what you need to look for. It most likely be either your brake booster or brake master I bet because I am having that problem right now, same problem as you describe.

I wish I could be of more help, but I really don't no to much in this matter. But, it does sound to me like you have some type of air leak. I also have a 95, and it has more hoses then the garden store sells for water. But from what you are saying, it seems to me that it has something to do with the breaks. This is strange, but like I said, dont no to much about your problem. I'm sure others will tune in soon.

COME ON ALL, HELP THIS GUY OUT..........................

You can always get yourself a can of carb cleaner and start spraying all around where your hearing the hissing? That sometimes helps pinpoint where you might have a leak. The only time i've ever had an issue that sounded like what your describing, I ended up having a flattend cam lobe. It ran great at idle, and ran really bad under accelration. Other than that, I have nothing. Good luck.

Hey,

The brake vacuum line attaches to the first "connector" on top/rear of air chamber. I took great pains in marking the vacuum lines. That don't mean I didn't make a mistake. I appears that the brake booster vacuum line supplus vacuum to a lot of other vacuum lines that attach to the plenum.

Any chance that the gasket between the plenum and intake be causing a problem?

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

Is your tps sensor and timing adjusted correctly? I adjusted my timing with the tps sensor off and had a great idle but really crappy power.

Thats why I suggested the spray test, because if he has a plenum leak he'll be able to find it pretty quick.
