High Idle!!
Please help. I have a 1988 4runner 3vze 3.0 liter. I went and got the vacuum system smoke tested. There weren't any noticeable leaks. I still have a high idle!...... The throttle adjustment screw is screwed in all the way (which I don't think it should but its the lowest I can the idle). I have a timing light and my distributor is backed off all the way (meaning the I can't make it go any lower towards 10). At 1200 rpm its at the 15 mark. I know that your supposed to have the timing set at 800 rpm the mark should be at 12(mod) or 10(stock). Right when I start it, it idles at about 800 rpm but after warming up it goes to about 1000 or 1200 rpm. What else could I try?? Thanks guys!!

If you are "out of range" on the distributor adjustment, it might be mounted incorrectly. The helical gear on the distributor has 13 teeth, so if you are off by one tooth it will move the "range" by about 28°.
This is a common re-assembly error; since the helical gear twists as it goes in you have to follow the directions. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...13distribu.pdf
Something to consider.
