Hesitation up to 3K RPM 88 22RE
Ok, So I have a very noticable hesitation from idle to 3K sometimes, where you either have to floor it, which doesnt always work, or wait for it to get above 3k, where it regains all its power throughout the rest of the rpm range, as soon as 3k hits, you feel a lunge as the power comes back.
Does this have any relation to me failing admissions (like 350 HC PPM at idle) And eating, and i mean EATING fuel.
New Fuel filter, timing is on 5* BTDC with connectors shorted, Have not checked coil yet, nor oxygen sensor.

If o2 sensor doesn't work check the spark plug wires and the gas hose going from the fuel filer to the intake. I had a bad spark plug wire that was causing hesitation and a linked gas hose that made flooring it not work either.

Ill go get a new 02 sensor tomorrow, ive been driving around with a rejected sticker for about 4-5 months now.
forgot to mention that that the wires are recently new, within 2K. Ill have to check the fuel line, because the times when it doesnt act up, flooring it does what flooring it does, trying to make it as simple as it sounds.

I've done a lot of research on this cause I had/have the same problem. I have it pretty much fixed mine when I can go get the gas hose! Anyways it's usually spark plug gaps, spark plug wires, distributors, clogged fuel filter, bad gas line or bad fuel pump from what I've found. Mine was bad wires and a fuel line. So it could be a combination

RPM-specific hesitation is USUALLY linked to the distributor in some way, but MAY be related to the TPS. I had low-rpm power issues for years that were cured by a new distributor. What brand of plug wires did you replace with? I HIGHLY recommend OEM Denso for multiple reasons.
