Exclamation Fuel pressure damper question

First off I am new to the forum so hello everyone. I am tearing my hair out trying to figure out a small gas leak. I have an 87 toyota sr5 with the 22re motor. I kept getting whiffs of raw fuel so I started looking around under the hood and found a wet spot under the fuel pulse dampener. I watched it and sure enough it was dripping. I pulled it off and looked at the crush gasket and it looked pretty rough, but the dampener looked brand new. I just bought the truck 2-2-13. I took an inspection mirror and looked up in the port and it looked ok. It looked like it was wet further up the outside tube where the dampener screws into. Is there any other spots that it could be leaking from further up the tube or is there only one crush gasket where the dampener screws in? I apologize in advance if this has already been answered. I looked at some other threads on it and couldnt find the info. Thanks in advance.

Where could it leak from? It is sealed. Also it looks like it is brand new...not saying that doesnt mean it cant be faulty seems unlikely. When i put my finger up further where the gasket is at i was getting fuel on my finger.

"Damper." You had it right in the title.

If the Pulsation damper looks brand new, it might be. They are notorious for loosening the indicator screw that you see in the center. But if the prior owner re-used the crush washers, they could leak. Get them from the dealer; they're as cheap as dirt (get an extra set while you're at it, just in case that isn't the problem.)

Installing them is a little non-intuitive. They're CRUSH washers, so you'll snug them up, but they won't reach 22 ft-lbs for about another whole turn. Then you're good.

Does it still have the plastic cover on it? When I rebuilt my 3slow, I found the adjustment screw laying in the cover. Since I didn't know what it was at the time, I just screwed it back in and snugged it up. I'm not sure what the preset adjustment is. Maybe someone else knows that.
