Exhaust Breakage

1988 4runner, 22R-E, Automatic
Went up for a snow run today but half way to the cabin my exhaust broke about a half a foot back from the manifold. I left it on the side of the road and went up the rest in a buddies truck. On the way back down it made the usual gross noises but once i got on the pavement and tried to go a bit faster my check engine light started coming on and off. I limped home slowly but surely. Could this have damaged anything? is there anything i should look for?i have to rip my exhaust off but i am concerned?

You probably didn't hurt anything in your engine. The codes were most likely your computer saying "Where the heck is the 02 sensor??"

Just go get a new exhaust system and call it good.
