engine code 51?
hey all this is my first post on the 89-95 section.
i purchased an 89 std cab 4x4 22re recently.
the truck was in dire need of a new motor and i had a good running 22re in my 85.
so i swapped everything over...intak, wiring and all that.
now that i have it running the cel is on(it was on before the motor swap as well).
i ran the diagnostic and came up with three codes
21
51
52
21 and 52 are pretty self explanatory, but 51 is trippin me up
when i look it up it says something to the effect of- idl contacts off, nuetral safety switch off and some other things i cant recall at this time haha.
so i guess my question is,will the diagnostic always throw code 51 with the tps connected?
and also once a code is stored in the ecu is it always there?can it be erased?or do i have all these problems at once?
reason i ask is the knock sensor was unhooked on the original motor and i was thinkin that was the reason for the code 21
anyway sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any help

i think it has something to do with the auto tranny... on your old truck if it was an auto and you went to a manual, i think it will throw some codes at you. im not a code guru though, im just making an educated guess based on your problem. search is a great thing on this site. just enter in the code and somethin will pop up

also this is what the code 51 pulls up:
SWITCH SIGNALS
IDL (tps) CONTACTS OFF, NEUTRAL START SWITCH OFF, A/C SWITCH "ON" SIGNAL TO ECU
^^^^^^^does this mean to unhook the tps, nuetral safety switch, and turn on the a/c switch?(mine is not equipped with air conditioning)
WITH DIAGNOSTIC CHECK CONNECTOR SHORTED
--A/C SWITCH/CIRCUIT
--A/C AMPLIFIER
--TPS/CIRCUIT
--NEUTRAL START SWITCH/CIRCUIT
--ECU
