hmmm sounds great. i have to get around to doing that. i hope everything goes well. i am soo flip floppy. i think now that i might just do the isr mod (i know i just wanted the k&n shhhhh) instead of the damn cold air intake, and just get a really good drop in filter.. truflow doesnt make drop ins for the 3.0... eye yie yie...

anyone recomend a good drop in?

Hmmmm. This thread got me curious, so today I taped up the holes in my drilled airbox and put that headlight piece back on. I'll be damned, it does seem to have a little more power. And it is a whole lot quieter. I think I'm going to put some insulation on the bottom of my ISR pipe as well. Hopefully that will minimize the effects of the header heat.

im gonna try to make a mod like shoes138,but instead of going down ill go inside the fender,so it will be protected from mud and water. ill make a diagram tonight + extra juicy details.

I've used the dried out water bottle on a couple of occasions myself. No funnel to be found, that was the next best thing.

I took your suggestion and decided to wrap my intake tubing as well. I've noticed that the same thing, that the radiator heated everything up that was around it. So this seemed like a novel idea! I'm always looking for a good way to cut down engine bay heat. I noticed when I removed the body lift that the cab got a little warmer than previously


This header wrap should help with the top radiator hose touching the intake tubing as well.

I'm seriously tempted to wrap my LC headers even though they say not too. They get really hot in there.

hmmm where do you get this hose to wrap it. looks like firefighter stuff lol! i dont have a 22re and my pipe wont be that long, but maybe i should wrap it still...

DON'T! Header wrap causes a header to retain heat, whereas wrapping other things in the engine compartment will keep the heat reflected off of them. Wrapping headers is to keep the heat inside the header, thus increasing gas flow (hot gas flows fast!) and it will warp the headers over time. Unless you've got some more money to chuck at new sets of headers every time they warp, DON'T!

O'Reilly's sells a small amount of it, but so far Advance (don't even get me started on how much I hate Advance Auto Parts) has the best deal on it. $42.88 for 1"x50'.

Can you see any gains from the header wrap on the intake tube? Does anyone notice any difference?
