Do you consider your 4-runner a truck?

yeah, definately "truck" or "4runner" (we give it a new title, its not a truck, its a 4runner lol!) i think the new 4runners look more like SUV's though...
also, i wanted to say that the BMW x3 is not an SUV (friend told me this i thought it was stupid) its an "SAV" (Sports activity vehicle)

I call mine a truck. In CA, it is registered as a commercial vehicle since it has an open bed (w/ the shell removed). Good thing, because if it were a passenger vehicle, would be limited to 24" height to the frame. Since it is commercial, it gets a 30" frame height limit!

you remind me of my friend and myself.
he owns a Suzuki Samuri, and the very 1st time i saw it i said something with the word "jeep" in it.
he quickly said it was a samuri, (no doubt. but i didnt think much of it).
i said, ok.
later on, sometime i referred his rig to a jeep again, and he almost hit me. saying "ITS NOT A F#$%@IN JEEP!".
so, okay, issues i guess, but in my defence, its just a term.
to change the minds of others will change the time you spend having fun.
is it such a big deal ?
let them win with the suv thing, because i always call his samuri a jeep. (really, i make a huge issue of it, plus it caught on easy b/c so many poeple just recognize the little 4x4 as a jeep looking thing.
its still the best looking samuri ive seen, and awesome, but getting him all freaked about it is never boring..
besides, he swapped in a 22r engine, tranny and now its more of a custom climber than anything.

I think of my '86 4rnr as "sport utility vehicle" because that's what it is. But, since I use it almost exclusively for utility and have the back seat out of it, I call it my "truck".

I've been calling mine "my rig" or "my truck".
I feel comfortable with both of those terms.
I may have to try out "my Runner"... sounds pretty jive to me...
I've only had it a month or so, so nothing is second nature yet (except "car", and that just won't do, lol).

i call it a truck, like red said its got a truck frame
when its broken down i call it bad words
and when ppl call it a car i say "i dont have a car..." they get confused
and when ppl call it a jeep i light their house on fire

Well, not really, if you're going off of LC nomenclature, Wagons have four doors, we'd have Troupies with really bad rear seat access and low carrying capacity 
. I'd say 1st gen runners are a bit more truckish seeing as I can still take the top off and have a "bed", but yes, I refer to my 4Runner as a truck. I don't know what an SUV is, but I hope I never own one.

i think 1st gens are trucks and the rest are suvs. I say this because the 1st gen is basically a one peice truck and has a physical bed in the rear like real trucks do. The rest of the generations are just suvs as they have a one peice roof with 4 doors/ and are made more for passenger purposes as opposed to 1st gens.
Trucks = body on frame construction w/ bed
SUVS = body on frame construction w/o bed
Crossovers = unibody
