dead cylinder?
hi guys, im lookin to go add to my collection and buy a second yota, its an 88 2.4 4x4 5spd with a 3" body lift, the guy is sellin it cheap. he says it has a dead cylinder, he said it has spark, and a new injector, and it has good compression, same as the other 3. he never specified if it got fuel. any known problems that tgis could be? or ideas?

Going by that it has good compression, new injector, spark, and the other 3 injectors are working, it is more then likely the connector as they are known to go bad. 1 and 3 connectors share the same wiring and 2 and 4 share the same wiring.
If it isnt the connector itself as the 88 and down have the connector with the little wire clip which is a poor design, try opening the harness a little ways up and see where the two injectors share the same connection by a little c-clip or crimp and reconnect it.
While you are that far into it, I would suggest removing the little crimpa and solder, shrink wrap and tape the connecotrs back up.
It will pass a resistance check but will not pass the voltage if it is connected in the worse case scenario.
The picture is terrible but this what the factory did and is a very poor design. Once it gets wet, it is nearly impossible for it to dry out. The job int as hard to do as you might think. Will need to take the Plenum off to get to it.
