Crank pulley

Any advice to get this sumbitch off? The bolt is torqued down hard, used an impact wrench to no avail, I took out 2 of the small bolts and stuck some longer bolts in there and put a pry bar and tried to use a pull bar while holding the pry bar to keep from turning the pulley.. Banged on the pull bar with a hammer... Is it reverse threaded? I didn't try that..

Also there's no real space to get behind it with the gear puller so any ideas to do it without damaging the pulley?

A couple days ago I actually loosened it by accident. I was about to adjust my valves and I was putting the crank on TDC when I "bumped" the crank by turning the ignition with the line to the coil removed. I accidentally had a breaker bar on the crank. By keeping the breaker bar stationary, you'll loosen it up.

breaker bar on the left upper framerail plus bumping the starter for 1/2 sec usually gets that thing loose.

should have pulled the bolt first dummy lol.

If the head is off, that even better. You can still bumper the starter as long as its hooked up. Just make sure there is nothing rotating that can catch, or at least make sure that chain is out of the way.

We just heated it up with a small torch. That was after we broke two sockets and a ratchet wrench.

I would've had I known what I was doing when I ventured into this! Maybe I should buy that FSM lol.

It's not hooked up as of now..

You can use a pipe extension on the breaker bar and put it against the ground. Works great. Putting it back on is on you - impact and Loctite works.

Do you have a real inpact or a Hasbro/Mattell from wallyworld?

-Get a bigger wrench! It's just labor bound.

torch is your friend, about 90 percent of cars that come into my shop for timing chain/belt jobs have balancer bolts that wont come off even with the 1 inch impact gun with two guys holding that monster, then I watch them mess with it for about 20-30 minutes, stroll over with the torch, heat the bolt, remove it with my blue point 1/2 inch impact gun and watch them cry, its great. Just heat the head of the bolt up red hot, let it cool for just long enough to not be glowing and hit it with the impact gun. I have broken a lot of snap on impact sockets on hondas before the torch method.
