Core Support Swap!!
I have a '94 extra cab, that was in a front end accident at the hands of the prev owner. The truck drives fine, and has a brand new motor, but the core support is pushed in at the lower section. I have been collecting body pieces here and there, and I am now considering swapping a different core support over.
I looked at an '89 2wd pickup at the JY today, its never ben wrecked in the front, and all the components are strainght!
My question is, will a 2wd core support swap over, and how difficult is the task?
I have a welder, and I already stripped down the core support of the prospective donor... can I simply start drilling out pop welds and take that sucker home, or is it not that easy?
Thanks guys!

If your sure the core supports are the same, then its just a matter of drilling out the spot welds and swapping the bad one for the good one and go from there. Just make sure you have everything lined up perfectly before you do the final welding.

I do know that the frames are different between 2wd and 4wd trucks, the 2wd truck frames are more like the old 4x4 factory SFA trucks. Dunno what that means for the core support though, but I'd think as a result of the subtle frame differences that the rad might be a bit higher up and they might not be quite the same though it also stands to reason that they probably are the same.

I'd really like to know if they are interchangeable... I cleaned the fenders, bumper, and hood out of the way today, and I have the day off tomorrow, so I'd like to head there in the morning and grab that sucker if it will work.

I know what a 2wd core support looks like, and I know what a 4wd core support looks like... but without seeing them side by side, its hard to compare the two.
the other option I have is a first gen 4 runner... but I'd have to strip everything off of it.
anyone know what core suppports are interchangeable with my '94?

Just take a few measurements , measure how wide your core support it, how tall it is from the frame to the top of the core support, and the core support mounts were it mounts to the frame, measure center to center on the frame mounting holes. If everything measures out the same between the two, then it will work.
