it should have coolant all the time, however a leak will be more noticeable when the coolant is warm due to the higher flow( t-stat open) and pressure.

If you just want to replace that hose you don't have to take the plenum off as already suggested. I read on here (I believe it was thook?) that if you remove the hood it will give you enough elbow room to work in that area. I replaced my coolant temp sensor and TVV with just the hood off and a lot of patience.

My personal opinion, if I had to do it all over again, I would remove the intake plenum.

Lol....I usually just contort myself on top of the motor, to fit in there and get a good look. Its not very comfrotable, and I'm usually sore for a day or two after... but I have never had to remove my hood, or plenum to get in there.

I removed the hood last night so today I can see down there. Time to get to work on this haha.

So I pulled off the hood, started it up. CRAP, smoke isnt coming from where i thought. Its coming from under the intake, and mostly on the passenger side of the motor. crap.

I called a shop ive always gone to with previous cars and they said 1000-1500 depending on machine shop charges for a HG. Im gonna have a buddy come over and ask waht he thinks what is leaking.

And ideas what could be leaking?

Did you check the hoses that run to the throttle body? There is also another by-pass hose that hangs off around there. Most of the coolant related hoses are on the driver's side.

I didnt check those because the smoke was on the other side of the engine.

So i did end up replacing that #3 bypass hose yesterday. It stopped smoking as bad but I think there is some other leak.

I replaced the hose clamps with actual hose clamps because the other ones were worn out. Now ive got to look for the other leak.

My thought process is whatever leak you have is running over to the passenger side maybe? Hopefully you get it figured out!

Hmm...well I was driving around with the hood off and when id stop there would be smoke coming from the crossover pipe area.

It might be some hose on the driver side but il have to take a better look at it.

Well you do have the TVV, ECT, etc. right above that crossover area all which coolant runs through. Also have the rear of the throttle body and heater core hoses.

It could even be the gasket to that block with all the sensors on it, it connects to, and feeds coolant thru the manifold. At this point, if you cant see where its coming from, even by crawling under with a flashlight...I'd say take the plenum, off, and go from there.
