compression test results

ok..so we did the compression test on our brown '86 this past weekend...and it was surprising...
cyl. 1=165
cyl. 2=200
cyl. 3=200
cyl. 4=200
thats odd for them to be that high...isnt it...i've never seen a yota with over 180...in fact thats almost the highest compression i've seen on a 4x4 truck..that isnt modified...of course the 22R has been rebuilt abotu 35,000 miles ago...the mechanic says that its ok..i didnt think there was supposed to be a big variation in the readings...it still spits and sputters...but doesnt die...it died because of a vacuum leak under the breather...

They do seem a tad high... but really the problem is the difference in cyl #1. Looks to be about 17-18% lower than the rest.

I recommend doing a cylinder leakdown test on cylinder #1 to find the source of the compression leak.

How do the plugs look?
The compression appears ok on #1 but the others are a tad high.
Pardon me if you've mentioned it before elsewhere, but have you done any work on the engine recently?
