Chopping back lower half of bed on a pickup?

Just curious as to how many people have cut the back lower part of there bed. Im looking to get a little better departure angle but dont wanna bob it since my quad fits in the bed perfectly as it is. I tried searching but couldnt find anything. Post some pics if you got any.

Heres some pics I found of Scuba's Tacoma where he cut his.

It's called "bobbing" a bed.

Wabbit's got a pretty comprehensive guide to bobbing a bed:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f88/...ur-bed-228060/

Hope that helps!

since you posted a pic of Scuba's Taco I guess a 1st Gen Will fly-
took out about 5" on mine:

garage is a mess but you can get the idea..
biggest thing is getting a low profile tube bummer or something back there..a stock bumper or hitch hanger down negates any benefit of trimmer...my Marlin bumper is off for now while I was doing some fiberglass work...

but with the quad in the back is that in the bed only or with tailgate down? if its bead only u could shorten it up a little and just drop the tail gate and get one of those bed extenders gates for when the quad is in the bed. just an idea.

Yeah thats with the tailgate up and closed. I was thinking about getting a bed extender but would rather just have the tailgate closed

same way the factory one is. it's just a huge heavy rec tube with channel welded onto it. and pushed into the frame. bolted and tacked. i towed a 35k lb camper around the yard with it
