yup, i found em, had to order. lowrangeoffroad.com had the ifs spindle bushing in fine print at the bottom. got em ordered. Thanks for the advice. and just for clarification, there is supposed to be some type of grease inside the spindle where that bushing goes right?? cuz mine was bone ass dry with no remnants of grease or oil or anything lubricative.

I just started getting noise in my front left wheel. Kind of a whine. It goes away when I hit 4th gear. Only started after playing around in 4WD the other day, I also noticed that the locking hub on that wheel is a bit stiff when trying to lock or unlock it.

Left Front Wheel Whine/Noise
Hey I was just reading this, I've been trying to figure out what's going on with my 89 4WD, stock manual hubs. But, that's exactly what it seems, left front wheel, whining when the hubs are locked. no difference with speed (except when I'm stopped), hubs unlocked no noise. ideas?

Id definitely look into those spindle bushings. if the little "wheel seals" at the back of the hub are leaking or gone or you dont know, order those spindle bushings and replace them. They dont cost much, like $16 or something if i recall correctly, but they are kinda labour intensive.
As for you dirty :
There are O-rings in your manual hubs that are supposed to be the culprit of that problem. They start binding and such when they wear out. Those you can also get from lowrangeoffroad.com, pretty cheap. I bought some for mine but never did get around to replacign them before getting rid of my rig.

I just bought an 86 4x4 with 210,000 miles. It's all stock with small tires. everything sounds and feels good on this truck untill you lock the hubs in then it makes a grinding noise in the front end. Without the hubs locked in I can shift to 4-wheel drive and no noise. I took it out of 4-wheel drive locked in the right side and it made the noise the same noise. I unlocked the right side and locked in the left side and the noise was a lot louder. I pulled the wheels and hubs off and the right side looked pretty good still had a lot of greese and no rust but the left side was dry and rusty the snap ring on the shaft was out of the groove and worn. The shaft had some slack in it ( where I could shake it up and down and side to side) The right side had some slack but not as bad as the left side. ANY HELP WITH THIS ONE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
