Arizona Emissions Passing Help
I have a '87 4x4 22R Pickup.
I am trying to register it in Arizona, but I didn't fully pass Emissions.
The Carbon Monoxide was too high and I am having trouble finding a shop that can "fix" it to pass.
Any suggestions?

i would run sea foam through it that helps a lot but it fowls your plugs so youll wanna put new plugs in whenthe seafoam is out of the system. also try replacing the air filter, and maybe the catalytic converter if thats bad its almost surely whats giving you trouble. and take it for a 20 min drive at high r's like 3k or something to heat up the catalytic and clear out the system a bit before your test

I really am not sure if it has a catalytic converter or not (had truck for less then a year). Every shop I've gone to makes suggestions, but don't have equipment for older Trucks. The neighborhood shops seem to think it's my carburetor.

it could be the carburetor.
if you have a catalytic converter, it would be under the cab, almost directly under the driver's seat. it would look like a short muffler (almost). the pipe would come down from the engine and turn to go under the cab, and the converter would be about 12" back from where the pipe goes horizontal.
If you don't have one, that could be part of the problem. If you do, then maybe the fuel mixture is rich. That's why I posted the link to a troubleshooting chart for smog problems with carbs.

With my mr2...i went to checkers and got something that is called..Guaranteed to pass emission. You pour it into your tank..fill up..drive around for half tank..and then take your ride in to get it emissions.
if it doest pass..they give your money back. My mr2 failed like5 times..
after this...I PASSED...
