So, I was off roading with some friends last night, and my lower valence got pwnd.











This is the "Puddle" that inflicted the damage. It's about 20-25" deep, and at least 5 truck lengths long. Note the ice...


I went through first because my buddy was too chicken to do it in his Jeep. I showed him how a Yota bomber does it.


That's the ice that pwnd the lower valence. About 1 3/4" thick...


My friend in the Jeep had another friend of ours with him, who is also a Jeep fanatic. After running a decent trail to get to this location, I got compliments all around. Here in PA, there is about an inch of snow with half an inch of solid ice on top of it. I blazed a difficult trail with straight tread tires in a completely stock truck. Needless to say, they were already impressed with the truck, but when I took that "puddle" and showed it who was boss, their jaws went like this: .

And, I got a full retraction of ALL the Toyota bashing I have heard since I bought my truck last spring. They were always telling me how crappy Toy 4x4's were, but I showed them. The best part is I did it completely stock, and my friend's Jeep couldnt make it up there till he lifted it 3 inches and put on 31's. My truck sits about the same height as his Jeep, stock...

But yeah, I am looking for a lower valence if anyone is willing to donate...

I did the same thing, and figured it was only a matter of time till I did it again, so I just pulled mine off and threw it in the dumpster. No regrets.

just use a lil elbo grease and you can bend that puppy right back out ( i know this from exp )

I vote keep it on. I find it keeps the stock lines. BUT you can easily bend it back into shape,you can trim it too. Try somthing different.

Yeah, If I had a nickel for everytime I've seen one of my buddies theirs up, read about someone messing theirs up on the net, or screwed mine up myself.. I'd probably have alot of nickels...

I don't often wheel on anything that would endanger that valence, it was sheerly the ice that did that. I would like to replace it, and keep the look, as I think it looks nice. If I had material/shop space/tools, I'd make a custom lower valence, but that isn't gonna happen...

If you replace it then you need to lift the front more to change your breakover angle. Get rid of it.

eh, I've never dug the front end into anything but this ice. In my opinion, for what I do as far as offroading, I have more than adequate entrance and departure angles. though, if I wheeled a lot more often, I'd keep it off no questions asked.
