Another EGR question
I have a header installed on my 22rec,I had to diconnect my pair tubes as the header does not work with them. My question is, is the AS system related and if so how much to the EGR system Im getting a code 71. I have checked my EGR valve and it works fine I checked the vacum modulator per fsm and it failed, I got a new one on order. I also checked my EGR temp. sensor and it checked out fine. Are the 2 systems related and thats part of my problem???

Are your refering the the Air Injection System thats sends fresh air into the exhasut right above the header to improve emissions? As far as I know, only carbed truck have the AIS systems. If you are, it could be the o2 sensor could be reading the new non-diluted exhaust gases, and throwing a code because its not used to the new mixture.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but couldn't you remove the battery to reset the ecm so that It could adapt to the new readings?

Ive cleared the code many times, And this is a 22rec C being California, anyway it has a air pulsation system I may have worded it wrong in my first post. It works the way ttrmike says, but is it related at all to the EGR??

yes, I checked egr valve I put on the new modulator valve but have not run it yet. the code 71 is driving me crazy. If the new modulator does not fix the code what else could be setting off the 71 code???
