Annoying Noise, what can this be? (see video)
The noise seems to be coming from the EGR valve. A mechanic told me that it could be getting stuck or something. I had my truck smogged last month, this noise was already present, and it had no problems passing.
What do you guys think this is?

Did you unplug the vacuum to it to see if it's really the egr valve? They don't move very fast... at least not fast enough to make that clicking/buzzing noise.

Unplug it while the engine is running? Or unplug it then start the engine?
In either cases, I haven't unplugged the tube going to the EGR valve.

I unplugged the tiny vacumm hose from the EGR unit (see pic below), the noise didn't go away.
However, I found something else (circled in red). Looks like someone just plugged it with a cap. Could this be what's causing the annoying noise?

thats suposed to be capped, i think yota techs use this to check engine vaccum? someone correct me if im wrong. couldnt really tell but is the noise coming from the cold start injector you were zooming on at the 22 second mark? and whats that thing at the 59 second mark that you kinda point to? looks too clean to be uncovered. any sort of heat shields that are rattling? anything simple you can factor out?

I don't think its the cold start injector because the noise is present even after driving it for a while. The noise occurs after revving the engine as the RPM drops. The noise is worse, however, when then engine is still cold after start-up. The part that I pointed at is the EGR valve according to the diagram I have. And as the noise occurs, I feel a vibration that seems to be synced up with the noise being heard when I have my hand right ontop of the EGR valve. So that vacumm fitting ontop of the intake manifold is not connected to anything?

There is a air valve/reed valve thing towards the back of the plenum there on the same side. Those have been known to lose 1 or more of the 4 screws that holds it together making a strange sound. Check that

Good call! I do notice it more coming from the rear. The sound seems to bounce off of the firewall. Is this valve on the rear side of the plenum itself? I'm not sure what it looks like, trying to find a photo of this part from my FSM.

get a stethescope (or a long length of fuel line) and pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. it's the only way; far more effective than just guessing.

It's definitely coming from the pair reed valve! I put my hand right on it while the noise was present and the vibration from it is strong, and it gets stronger the lower the RPM drops. When I rev the engine up, the noise and vibration goes away at around 3-4k, until the RPM drops again. I don't see anything loose, I tugged on it and no play. I don't see any missing bolts and if any are loose, it would have play but there's none.
wcc_71, are you talking about the intake manifold gasket??

My PAIR Reed Valve is doing the same thing. It makes an awful rattling/grinding noise at low RPM's. It goes away when I hold it in place. Also, seems to be worse in colder weather. My problem is that I had the Downey headers put on and there doesn't seem to be a place to attach it to. Maybe I am just missing it.
I am wondering if it needs to be secured or if I need to replace it?
