Ahh, door hinge help!

The truck is a '91 basic pickup. My driver side door has a lot of vertical play in it. I was told that I just need a new hinge pin. I'm looking at the assembly though and I have no idea how I'd go about this. How do I remove the pins? The tech guy at the parts store recommended I avoid removing the hinges from the door because re-aligning them is nearly impossible. So what then? I've got plenty of mechanical inclination, but I'm stuck right here. Thanks

Do one at a time. We did some on an old ford awhile back, just replaced the bottom one.

Im going to have to do the same thing when I finally get around to it. My 91's doors have alot of play in them.

Both those guys are wrong.

#1 You cannot just buy a hinge pin on a toyota, you have to get a whole new hinge from the dealer. However, they are pretty cheap

#2 The tech dummy is wrong as well, 2 people can very easily realign a door....one to hold it, and the other to make the minor adjustments and tighten the bolts. Its all by eye, so open and shut the door several times while aligning it, and you are golden. Toyota also uses self centering bolts, so there isn't a major adjustment needed. I take the doors off my 86 every summer, and have no issues reinstalling them.
