93 Auto 4runner 3.0l has power but wont crank
Hello,
I'm new to posting in the forum and would appreciate anybody's advice/help. 4runner was sitting for about a week, jumped in to start it and zero crank. Had power to everything as normal but no crank or clicks of the starter at all. Good starter on it, starter relay works correctly. Not sure what to check next. It seems like when I turn the key to the start position that power is being sucked away somewhere. The lights dont dim but the chime stops and the power antenna stops and the clock on the dash goes dark.
Any help is much appreciated.

Checked all the battery cables and everything is clean, no corrosion at all. Tried jump starting it with my pickup and no change at all. As soon as I turn the key to the "on" position, the door chime stops so power is at least cutting out a little there and then when I turn the key to "start" nothing happens at all, just the clock dims on the dash and thats it. Wondering if it could be the ignition switch?

So, put in a brand new battery, "polished" connections at terminals, also at the main ground and on the starter. Zero effect on the issue. Its the weirdest thing, I have never had any issues starting it at all and then one day just absolutely nothing, no clicks or anything. I know the connection is clipped on correctly from the ignition to the starter. Im still thinking maybe the ignition switch? but would it just go out without giving me any issues first? Could this have anything to do with the alarm system? if the battery in the alarm fab went dead would this have an effect? Thanks for any ideas.....

Alarm system? Yes, it could. I mean, I've had that problem before....twice....with my wife's wagon. The last time, I'd forgotten there was even an alarm system. Thought I'd disabled it entirely a long time ago....after the first incident. The switch is right under the steering column on the lower trim of the dash. Accidentally kick the switch and no power to the ignition.
So, worth looking into, for sure.
