91 pickup custom rear bumper (pic heavy)
Hey all, recently made my first post introducing myself and my pickup. I got the truck with no rear bumper, and plan on building a front and rear bumper and a few other accessories but the rear bumper took priority since it was absent. I felt the fabrication juices flowing at work yesterday and fabbed this up on my lunch hour / breaks and had it painted today. I built the lightest/ simplest bumper I could while still making strength and aesthetics a priority. It is composed of 3/16 and 1/4 inch plate with 3/8 mounting plates mounted to the frame with 4 grade 8 Half inch bolts. The mounting plates pass through the face of the bumper and serve as shackle points. They are gusseted from the back with 3/8 plate. I retained the stock harness/plug for the license plate light by modding the connector to fit my new light. I ran a 61" weld down both faces with only one start/stop point.. that was a burner... no bondo here! I'm a welder not a grinder holes for licensce plate and light are threaded into the plate. last two pics are: a skid plate I plan to build and: I clipped a deer on my way into work and had to install a spare black fromt bumper I had. Let me know what you think!

I'm an old steel fab man myself. Great job on the rear bumper! And good design for the skid plate. You may have some folks requesting one for other trucks on this forum.

Thanks guys. I'd like to refine it a little more but I'm pleased with it for now. I'll post lots of pics of the skid plate when its done as well. I'm always happy to build things for people just a matter of knowing what you want. Sky is the limit
