87 4runner motor ?
Picked up a 22re 87 4runner, guy said motor needs to be replaced but thinking it can be repaired. He said his girl was driving it up a hill, it started bogging down, smoke started coming out from it, it died and oil was leaking out. I bought it and had it towed to a friends barn to work on next weekend. I checked the oil and no antifreeze in it, there was oil in there, one guy i know says it could be the oil relief valve on oil pump. Any ideas...? Thanks.
I got yota-itus bad....also in the works of a my 93 pickup rebuilding with a 22r motor, lift, bushwackers, rims tires ect ect. Ye..ah.

Don't think so. The oil pressure relief valve is internal and simply keeps your pressure under 80 PSI during high RPMs. Try to find where the leak is. The smoke could be from oil on the exhaust.
