87 4Runner Chrome Rocker Trim
I recently got a chrome rocker panel trim piece for my 87 4Runner (Bandit II). Figured out the plastic clips I needed and got them all in hand. Should I remove the chrome plastic end piece and slide them in from the side or should I put them in the holes in the door and try to snap the chrome onto the clips? I figured the first method but I thought I'd ask the experts.
Second question. My buddy said, "You should just plug those holes so that it doesn't trap water behind it and rust the door." I know that's a major known problem with the windshield chrome trim. I do live in PA where we have plenty of water and salty roads. Thoughts?

I removed mine and plugged the holes. There was a lot of dirt in them and I think there would eventually be rust.

Yes, the chrome would just trap dirt and water and cause rust, so I also removed the wheel well trims. Heck, even Escalades do not have that chrome.
Happy New YEar!
