Thanks for all the great feedback guys!!!
Boice your truck just made up my mind and yup, I'm getting just a 3" body lift with some 33 mud terrains.
Oh yah, One more question. What about the bumpers??? Do I have to get levelers or will the body lift take care of it all???
WAY TO KEEP THE THREAD UP GUYS!!!

This thread makes me happy. All this posts about body lifts, and not one post spouting misinformation about how lousy and dangerous they are.
On topic: 4Crawler makes top notch stuff, and his instructions are unrivaled. I am very happy with my 2" lift and I even got it 2nd hand!!!

I'd do 2" max. Your truck...I could care less either way

Body lifts a ghey. They expose the frames too much...3" is quite a bit...and it looks dorky with out moving the bumpers up, putting on gap guards...so you don't see through the bottom of the bed!, they put a lot of stress on the front body mounts...and each to there own.

Lots of opinions there, but little, if any, tech. Bummer.
Oh well, I suppose my post kind of invited it.

no hard feelings, just jokin man. I started on this board with a 2wd anyway, so I can't really say anything. Your post illustrates 1/2 of YT's opinions on bodylifts anyway, I was surprised when there were so many positives on a performance acessories kit, let alone the hated 3 incher.

I know that the kit contains extended front bumper brackets, but the rear bumper you may have to modify yourself to make it look 1/2 way decent. I know my rear bumper is gonna look like crap because it already sits 2-3" below where it should sit. Probably something I'll have to deal with though.

Yes. Most kits will include Front bumper lift brackets. Just some 3" tall plates with 4 holes drilled in them
The rear is up to you. I left mine stock, mounted some lights on there and it looked alright. Then I went and got a marlin bumper and chopped the brackets to fit with the body lift.
This is a great thread! Im so sick and tired of hearing all sorts of bs about body lifts.
I think they look fine, they also make working on the truck ALOT easier I can get my starter out in minutes now

Hmm, I wonder if the bumpers mount differently.. On each of the two brackets there were 4 holes. Two for the frame mounts, two for the bumper mounts.
As for the bumper, it was cut where it curves up and welded back on (with an extra plate for strength) 3" higher.
Heres a pic...

Yeah I'm not using the stock front bumper anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Just curious why it only has 3 holes...
Nice rear bumper mod, how has it held up?

Its held up great so far. I have yet to "really" use it for a hard recovery but I have gotten tugged out of a hole I dug myself into (damn open front!) and I towed my sisters lifted chebby 1500 with it.

I'm going with a 1" for mine. I know tons of people do the 3", but that seems like just a bit too tall for my needs. Also, I don't want to run into hose, brake line, wiring, shifter clearance, etc problems that may come with a 3" BL. 2" would my plenty to clear 33's for you.

The only way to clear 33's with that little lift is to run a 10.50 or 9.50. But even so, you could run those with no lift.
If you want to run a wide tire you need more then 2" of lift. Unless you don't mind hacking up your truck for clearance...
