ok a little more info . when i tighten the belt with the top pully that goes between both cam pullys ( the water housing) the left cam moves a tooth ahead the left doesnt because its tension is held be the crank pully the left one below has the tensioner to deal with any secrets to this i would thank you

Are you using the FSM?http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...67timingbe.pdf
It's easier with the camshaft bolt and knock pin removed.

Could be somethin' minor like a vacuum leak. There was somebody having the same problem on here a while back. Anywho, he'd gotten some water splashed on his EGR valve refilling his radiator. I tried to reassure him it wasn't a big deal to just run it till the EGR sucked itself dry, which worked. Your symptoms sound identical so it could be that. It'd take me a minute to find that thread.

When I first bought my truck, it was a real dog pulling away from stop signs and would bog all the time.
Checked the timing, and it was at 0*BTDC with the pins jumpered. I figure someone set it without the jumper.
Set it to 10*BTDC with the jumper in and it was night and day difference! I need to pick up a timing light and check it again ... might go a little more advanced than 10* - have read people going to 12* with no issues.

Yep, that's not a bad idea at all. Reminds me, I should check mine and see how it's doin'. I've had no luck getting it set at anything lower than 10. I did set it @ 15 just to see what would happen once. WOO NELLY!!! Big time low end power boost. So much it frightened me. I thought, "now that's just too good to be true, I'd better put that back where it was". Kinda silly notion, I think I'll try that again for more than just a cruise around the block this time.

ive got the all the pulleys lined up but im thinking mabe i missed a tooth on the distributor (allthough its hitting number one on tdc) or something cause when i take off even floored . it goes nowhere i have checked vacumes i know the bvsv is bad but i bypassed that alltogether corse all it does is send a few fumes into the tb anyway i did get a knock sensor code but this just seems like im missing something totally hell ill try anything at this point
