2wd chevy 350 swap with th350 for street

So I'm in the middle of a LS2 swap in my El camino and been trying to figure out what to do with my low mileage GM 290 HP 350 crate motor that came with the car. I've been thinking it would be sick to build a 2wd work truck with a 350 and 3 speed auto.

Think I could get away with a 1" body lift or have to go 2"? It'll be a work truck so the lower the tailgate the better.

Any major parts I'd need besides crossmember and shortening driveshaft? I wouldn't be beating it to hard, no off-road goals as I've got a built 85 4runner. This would just be a fun work truck that I'd like to try and build for about 5k including buying the truck for 2-2500...

I'm thinking I'd just need mounts, crossmember, some wiring, body lift and driveshaft. Anything else I'm totally missing and not thinking about? I'm thinking 3 speed auto would be cheaper than W56 adapter but could be off on this one. Any ideas for a cool cheap and awesome build?

You seem to have a good idea on what to do. I would at least do a 4 speed auto with a lockup converter. Manual T5, or T56 would be pretty cool too

I agree. I was thinking th350 would be cheap as their dime a dozen, and would be a little afraid or beating the axle to hard with a stick. Think she can handle a 2200 stall?

Sounds like an awesome project and you seem to have it under control. I will still put in my .02. I would also recommend at least a 4 speed tranny just for fuel consumption and you will still have plenty of power. Especially if you are going to run a 2200 stall converter. The three speed will handle it fine, imho, if that is the route you go. I did not look at your region, but here in the Greater Cincinnati area or Tri-State region the 4 speeds are much easier to come by and don't cost any more. I'm not at currently at home, but I have a list of everything you need for the 350 swap. I will check back to your thread later and update if there is anything you left off, but it looks like you have it under control.
