2nd gen body on a 1st gen frame?

I rolled my 85 4runner and need a body. Trying to find a decent 1st gen body is near impossible with their age. Then I thought about using a 2nd gen body. Does anyone know if the body mounts will line up? I am assuming they are both body on frame, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks, Kyle

Okay junk........but, will the body mounts line up or no? I'm kinda curious myself. I've compared my 1st and 2nd by the eyeball and they seem to have the mounts in the same location, but can't be sure on measurements.

Poopy......even if they don't, why not drop your powertrain in a 2nd gen body with frame?

you would be better off finding a ifs 4 runner body or a 2nd gen truck cab 84-88 and throwing it on there.

so super old thread i know, but this is the first thing that shows up when you google 2nd gen 4unner body on 1st gen frame. And I've successfully completed this swap, 93 body on my 85 frame, couple odds and ends at this point but nothing that includes body swap stuff. LINK

my 2nd gen was a 6cyl 2wd...the 85 was 22r...the body harness and engine harness seperate, so essentially as long as you've got a battery hooked up to the wire that goes to the under hood fuse box everything works... minus the gages, only wiring i had to fiddle with was the alternator but thats pretty simple.
