22re turbo bellhousing?

Where can I get one besides the junkyard? Looking for a possible remake by a company for when I do my 3vze to 22re conversion so I can keep my v6 tranny.

PS: What model is the v6 tranny?

As far as I know the 22ret is the same engine as the 22re (block wise). You want to put a 22re to a V6 trans. I have heard of an adapter for doing this but I think it would be cheaper and more original to just get a trans and gear driven T-case from the wreckers or somewhere. I have 2 or 3 t-cases sitting around and a few trans that need input bearings so I bet anyone who is into these trucks would have some laying around. They are not hard to find.

Hmmm I definatly dont want to do a full swap like that. I know that bellhousing is in a junkyard somewhere but was just wondering if I could make my life easier and buy an aftermarket remake. Think toyota manufactures replacements?

Oh, I'm sure Toyota will sell you one...it'll cost you your first born though.

Check Marlin or Inchworm, they might have what you're looking for.

You might want to cost everything out though, the R150F is a better tranny, but it'll probably cost you a pretty penny to keep it. W56's can be had pretty cheap, and it's still a good tranny. They have the added bonus of being a hell of a lot cheaper to put lower t-case gears into.

Turbo tranny bellhousings are rare and probably $$$

Did ya considera a #3RZ swap instead of the 22RE swap?

The reason i am going with a 22re is because this is budget oriented. I can build a real nice 150-160hp 22re for about $1400. Then I can swap it in for $500 and have a brand new motor for a whopping $2000. Any other option I've noticed I'll be pissing away at least $2500 just for the motor not to mention bell housings, and computer hassles.

I checked Marlin and the closest thing they have is a r150 to 2.7L tacoma 4banger housing. If worse comes to worse it looks like I'll be doing a complete 4cyl driveline. It still leaves the question up in the air about speedometer cables and guages still working though. Theres no major hassles to overcome when it comes to a 3vze driveline to 22re driveline?

Curious - what's your formula for a 150-160hp 22RE @ $1400?

The only hassles that I know about can occur due to changes in driveline length. Marlin's site will have the details, but sometimes you can expect to have to change shifter position and have to change front/rear driveshaft length.

As noted, the 22RTE bellhousing is kinda hard to find.

To better help..

What chassis and motor and trans and xfer do you have now?

Are you thinking SAS in the future?

Project budget?

IMHO - rebuild the 3VZE is the "budget" route...

And yeah - I'd like to know how ya get 150hp out of a 22RE for $1400

--- what Marlin's bell housing does is allow a 3RZ (4cly) to be bolted to a R series transmission - i.e. a V6 or 22RET transmission....

So it makes a #VZ to 3RZ swap feasible....

Its really aimed at the older trucks with 22RE who want ot upgrade to 3RZ tho...

Teds stuff is great, I've got his preformance stuff in my 22RTE, but even with every preformance part he's got and the hottest cam you can find you probably won't break 150hp on $1400. DOA offers a 150hp 22RE and it's in the $5500 range. You could go with an EB Offroad RV head and you might get close you 150 at the very top, but you'll dump your bottem end to get it: I asked Ted and Tod about this, the reccomended against it.

As for driveline length: swaped my auto V6 tranny for a W56, and the W56 is about 3" shorter than the V6 auto. My drive shaft worked for a while (till I got a longer one), but there wasn't much interface left on the splines.

I had a friend who builds 22r's tell me that with a head, cam, exhaust, and pistons I'd be in the 160-175hp range. Either way I'm not so concerned with making a powerhouse motor out of it. Rather just get a nice stout 22re in there and call it a day. As far as marlins bellhousing I called them and they informed me about exactly what they supply.

Looks like I'm gonna be digging around for a turbo bellhousing because if i swap trannys then I'm gonna wanna do my dual cases at the same time and its gonna be a mess.
