It doesn't take much to be a high rise window washer....usually just a third testicle. You don't have to be a masochist to work on mid-engined cars, but it sure helps. Silence is GOLDEN, but Duct tape is SILVER...cheaper and more efficient. |

Seems like you could remove the fender/ door from the donor rig and be on your way. Could probably even sell the donor (with or without fender) and make some of your money back... or even consider parting out the auto 4Runner.
A engine tranny swap would be pretty involved. You'd have to take on the wiring because a auto ECU will not work with a 5spd. You'd have to wire up your new rig to accept a 5spd ECU. You've got the pedals and required bracketry to figure out as well, but that would be the easy part considering the whole project. I have never done a body swap, but it seems like that would be a very involved task. Just lifting that 2nd Gen body off the frame would be a challenge. But maybe you have access to a lift and many tools.

I think I am just going to use the truck for parts....its to rusty to use but I can harvest tons of stuff off of it...including the front end swap I have been wanting to do.
