1986 fuel pump problem

So this 86 4runner 22re has been sitting for 12 years cause the engine blew, finally just did an engine swap, went to prime the fuel system, and no pump wine?

I turned the ignition on, pressed the door of the air flow meter, I can hear a relay click, but still no pump kick on.

I then went to the afm by pass plug, and when I tried to jump it, the wire arced real bad, so I tested the terminals, get 12v at one, and ground at the other? ? Is that right or do I have an electrical problem.

You are most likely going to need to pull the tank and clean or replace the tank and pump. That fuel will have a lot of chunks in it sitting that long. I would clean from the tank to the fuel rail.

In the links below in my siganture, I have some info on tanks on each of my builds. Most of the information is on the first page or second. Old gas is nasty stuff.

I drained the tank, yes the gas smelled really bad but there are no signs of rust or chunks or gummed up gas.

Red face

The truck sat for 12 years!

You never drained the fuel tank??

Did you change the fuel filter ??

Just the amount of condensation in the lines that caused things to rust is going to be a mess.
