i have an 84 with a 22r 5 speed i port and polished the head put a little cam in her now wondering about weber carbs how much better are they and any advice on what one should i get advice apprishiated thanks

Weber carbs are great but they must be dialed in. In otherwords you have to take your time adjusting them. I run Twin 45 DCOEs. They must be balanced, jetted for your motor, both idle and main jets, and no more than 1-11/2 PSI fuel pressure at the carb. Once they are setup, they work as good as any FI system. If you go this rouite get a Weber factory manual and a balancing gauge. I own fuel injection and carb vehicles. For making power in a 22R I would always choose the carbs.

I did the same to my 22R. Then I added a 36DGEV. Took a whole 20 minutes to install and about 5 to adjust. I've only adjusted it a few times in the last year or so, when the weather goes from hot to cold and back. Best performance mod I ever did.

I've got a 32/36 I was going to put on an old Subaru I had but never got around to installing it. I don't have the adapter plate for a Toyota but I have no use for the carb anymore. I'd sell it to ya cheap if you're interested.

I bought my truck with the Weber on there already and it ran great, but I went the route of putting a fuel pressure regulator on it, and it runs like a champ now. Its a Weber 38, so the power is there when you need it, but if you don't floor it, you will still get good gas mileage. My truck has 35's and 4.88's, and I got almost 20 mpg on my trip from Minneapolis to Austin, TX, so those that say the Weber 38 eats gas must not have had it tuned correctly.
There's a write up on here or on TTORA about installling the regulator, and there's another one on how to make a Weber run up a hill without stalling. That's my big drawback, it will stall on a steep hill, but I am not ready to convert over to EFI just yet.

Howdy, I've got an old 20R I put a Weber 32/36 on some six years ago. I plugged off the EGR and the truck has ran GREAT ever since...!!!
Best thing I did. I found working on the Weber Very Easy...pulling the top cover off to change the jets is super easy. I don't know why Japan has to make their carbs so darn hard to work on...!!!

i have the weber 38 on my otherwise stock motor and the increase in power was pretty impressive. i also added the VITON valve seat and needle and that allows me to toss the pressure regulator. on accel i do see a little puff of black smoke, but they told me not to get it for a stock motor, im sure with header and cam this truck would be a screamer.... (as far as toyotas go anyway)

Hello all, I have a completely stock '84 long bed 5spd with 95,000 original miles...can somebody help to make up my mind between purchasing the 38/38 or the 32/36 please?
I want to make the best choice.
