22re radiator in a 22r engine?

Hey, I'm a bit of a noob and I haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer elsewhere, and I'm hoping someone here could help...

I have a 1985 pickup with a 22r engine and a busted radiator. I was able to get a good junkyard deal on a radiator from (I think) an 86 22re, thinking it wouldn't be a problem.

I just got ready to do the swap and I've realized the 22re radiator seems to have an extra outlet (or is it inlet?) - a small hole on top on the driver's side.

Now, my question is, am I stuck getting another radiator for my 22r pickup? Or is this extra hole in the 22re radiator something I can just plug up without fear of damage? Or is there somewhere on the 22r engine I can feed the hole to for better cooling?

Thanks a lot, any help appreciated!

The radiators are the same between 22r-22re. There shouldn't be an outlet on the drivers side top...
There should be one on the passenger's side on the top and one of the driver's side bottom....

Are you sure it isn't a damage hole? Have any pictures?

Tossing this out there: now that I think about it, I'm not 100% certain it was a 22re. I am sure it was an '86. It might have been a Turbo.

Might that, and these pictures, change anything?

Thats a radiator from a turbo truck, it pumps water to the turbo to cool it down. I ran one in an old truck that wasn't turbo and I just put a really tight fitting rubber nipple on it and it worked fine. Not the best way to do it but I didn't have any problems.

Would a turbo radiator be a better flow radiator, or are they the same other than the extra outlet? I'm looking to upgrade my radiator (still the original 1983 one), but junkyard prices are better than aftermarket or OEM..
