lift question...

Alright guys so I recently bought an 85 toyota pickup long bed. It came with a 3 inch suspension lift from Skyjacker on it right now. I currently have 0 money and was planning on just doing a 3 inch body lift that will equal 6 inches of lift. Am I gonna have any issues running 35's or 36's? And what with would you recomend I run? My future plans are 5 inch trail gear springs up front and chevy springs in the rear with double shackles. But this is what i can afford right now!

No, you will not have a problem cleaing the tires. Width is for the most part personal preference depending on the size/offset of your wheels. Personally I like running a 12.50 on a 10" wheel.

i hope your plans are to remove the body lift when you do the 5" lift. I am running a 5" t-G lift, COG is too high. Keep your 3" lift and just trim and pound.

Marlin has better springs, metal quality that is.
I have 4" suspension and 2" body and I clear 37" MTRs
I used 51" rears for the front and rear suspension.

if that is to high of COG id hate to hear what u say about my truck with 12" lift............ to the OP what do u do with the truck........... its all about what u do as to how u set it up

I would say cut as much as you can and if you still rub run some bump stops but a 3 inch body is too much in my opinnion...maybe a 1 inch or even 2 but 3 inch body = way to much body roll, but if money is a concern how the hell do you have money for 35's or 36 inch tires??? do the right lift wait on tires or do the wrong lift and do it twice or choice.

how much will moving the rear springs lift the front and will i need different shackles or hangers?

Wow, have you ever done this? It's not as simple as everyone makes it out to be. And if the original poster has no money, then he probably can't affort the necessary crossover steering, new shackles, front drive shaft, etc. that goes along with this swap. Not to mention the welding and fabrication skills that are required, and a shop to do all the work in.


If I had no money I would start by just driving the truck and fixing what is in need of fixing. and when you do get some money, put it towards gears and lockers. You would be blown away at what a stock truck on 31" tires, fully locked with low range transfer case gears can do. But if you want a 6" lifted mall crawler on 35s and stock, open 3rds that will burn clutches and barely wheel then go for it!
