im trying to get my dashboard off in my 85 runner and it seems like its bolted on the right side top... their was a clip on the left side and looks like bolts or just really stuck in with clips... i just want to make sure its clips befor i pull my heardest to tear it off... i cant pry on it because i dont want to crack the windsheild... anyone know what to do?

You have to pull the right A/C vent out which is really a PITA. and there is a 10mm nut behind it.

whenever you go to drill holes for the inclinometer there are already pre-made holes underneath the dash pad. dont try to line it up and do it by eye

where did u find that inclinometer?? i have one from a Montero but, i can not put it any place on my 81 wheelr.

found it on ebay... paid $100 for it... its worth it to me... i couldnt pass it up when i saw that it was the same color as my interior

Thought I'd resurrect this post. I have an '88 pickup and I just bought a used Clinometer, complete with wiring harness, for it. Can anyone tell me if the holes are already pre-drilled and if the wiring connector should already be in place? Also, I looked at my FSM and it doesn't show much. Will I need to cut away any of the dash pad or does the Clinometer mount right on top of the dash pad essentially sandwiching the pad between the Clinometer and dash pad frame? Thanks!

88 SR5...you'll find the other end of the plug for your clinometer already in the dash.

Flip the dash top over after you get it out and you'll see the holes pre-drilled where the studs and the wires from the clinometer go. No serious cutting, but it isn't really a "reversable" addition with the new holes in the dash.

What if tis not an SR5 truck? Do you have to hardwire the inclinometer into the harness then?

It won't make a difference SR5 or not, the wiring harness on the inclino has male and female connectors. The connectors are daisy chained with the climate control lights. Unplug the climate harness, plug the inclino into that and then the other inclino connector to the other half of the climate control.
